If you are travelling overseas on business or for a much-needed holiday you want to ensure that you are in the best possible health. Don’t waste a well-earned break or a potential business opportunity by being unwell. We stock numerous travel vaccines onsite, although not Yellow Fever at this stage.

Medical Hub @ RMIT recommends visiting one of our doctors at least 6 weeks before your departure date. This will give you the time to obtain all of the necessary vaccinations and receive practical advice for staying well while you are overseas. Moreover, some vaccines require a course for adequate immunity – so don’t leave your visit until the last minute!

Travel Medicine Services

At Medical Hub @ RMIT we can help you determine the specific risks you may be facing on your trip. We can use information such as the countries you are travelling to, or through, plus your previous immunisation history to develop an immunisation plan prior to your departure. We can also check your immunity to various diseases to avoid repeat immunisation.

Vaccinations and their corresponding destinations

Deciding which exact vaccinations you need depends on a number of factors and is best left to a qualified health professional. These factors include:

  • The country or region you are visiting
  • The length of your trip
  • The specific locations within that region you will visit (e.g. rural areas)
  • Past immunisation history

Make an appointment with one of our doctors to discuss your upcoming trip and they will map out an immunisation plan specific to your circumstances.

What to bring to your consultation

You can make the most out of your travel vaccination consultation by planning ahead and preparing some basic documentation. Based on the information below your doctor will be able to map out an immunisation plan:

  • Past immunisation history
  • Itinerary
  • Dates you are travelling away
  • Any challenging or out-of-the-way accommodation you may be staying in
  • Any special activities (skiing, surfing, etc.)
