Introducing your Medical Director – Dr Katie Mellor

Medical Hub @ RMIT is excited to introduce Medical Director, Dr Katie Mellor.

Dr Katie Mellor is an experienced GP who brings with her a wealth of knowledge and expertise. Her approachable and warm manner, passion for working with youth and commitment to education meant that there was no one better suited to this role. We are very lucky to have her, and we are certain all patients will benefit from her leadership.

Dr Mellor graduated from the University of Leeds UK in 2009. She spent her early doctor years in hospitals around the north of England, covering a variety of specialties including: obstetrics and gynaecology, respiratory medicine, A&E and paediatrics, working towards her career goal of becoming a GP. She gained Fellowship to RCGP (UK) in 2014 and Fellowship to RACGP in 2015 when she set off on her adventure to Australia!

Dr Mellor’s special interests are sexual health, mental health and obstetrics and gynaecology. She has worked as a GP at Headspace, a youth mental health service. She is a strong advocate for the LGBTQI+ community.

She offers Shared Maternity Care with the Royal Women’s Hospital, Sunshine and Werribee Mercy Hospital. She has a Diploma from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists UK. She inserts Implanon and Mirena IUDs.

She has a passion for education and takes medical students from Monash University.

Outside of work Dr Mellor is gearing up to run the London Marathon in April 2020 (her first and probably last marathon) to raise money for Oxfam. She loves music gigs, being in the sunshine and a good smashed avo on toast.

Dr Mellor is committed to constant quality improvement, and thus welcomes your feedback and suggestions on how Medical Hub @ RMIT can improve.
